Amanda Lyons

Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

Amanda’s research focuses on the population genetics of the diamondback terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin), a brackish water turtle native to the east coast of the United States which has been identified as a keystone species and conservation priority. Amanda is interested in coastal species and coastal ecosystem dynamics, active conservation, and how we can harness the intersection between genetic and field approaches to answer key questions about populations. Her current work will provide baseline terrapin population genetic data to inform governmental, nonprofit, and academic organizations as they work to optimize conservation strategies.
