Andressa Maia

Portuguese and Brazilian Studies

Andressa Maia is primarily interested in questions related to environmental disasters, community resilience, social and environmental justice in Latin American contemporary cultural artifacts. Maia's research focuses on the role of the imaginative realm in reimagining the past, while proposing other futures for endangered communities and the natural spaces they belong. Andressa is also interested in the intersection of ecocritical and decolonial studies to analyze how these communities have historically created strategies to contest and negotiate their right to occupy ancestral territories.
