Biography

Bryce Mitsunaga is an isotope geochemist and paleoceanographer / -climatologist who studies long-term changes in Earth's hydrological cycles using fossils and fossil molecules in rocks and sediment. In particular, he's interested in past warm periods such as the Pliocene that may be analogues for 21st century warming and how the African monsoons may have behaved under these regimes.  Mitsunaga also develops and refines new proxies for paleoenvironmental variables such as air temperature and seawater salinity.
