My dissertation is in the field of environmental ethics and presents improvisation as a method of ecologically-informed ethical formation. Artistic improvisation (musical, theatrical, etc.) teaches a method of collaboration that breaks down dominative hierarchies between players; therefore I argue it provides techniques of relation and habituation that can push against humans' socially ingrained practices (and consequent values) of ecological disregard.
