Biography

My current research centers on maritime cultural and environmental landscapes, with a specific focus on the architecture and industrial landscapes of port cities. I am currently writing my dissertation, which analyses the relationship between modern architecture and maritime technology in the political enterprise of Italy’s territorial expansion and consolidation along the Balkans’ Adriatic coast in the interwar period. My most recent seminar, "Architectures of the Sea: Space and Place in the Maritime Cultural Landscape," similarity explored the global network of maritime environments and the attendant architectural and urban spaces that together produced the modern world.
