Sloane Garelick

Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences

Sloane studies organic geochemical proxies in lake sediments to develop reconstructions of past climate. Her current research focuses on reconstructing temperature and precipitation changes in high-elevation regions of equatorial East Africa over the past 25,000 years since the Last Glacial Maximum. Understanding climate variation and its governing processes over this time period helps improve data-model comparisons, allowing us to better understand how local environments and communities in equatorial East Africa will be affected by future climate change
