Biography

Vasu (she/her) is a senior from Wilmington, Delaware concentrating in Environmental Science on the Air, Climate, and Energy (ACE) track. She is deeply interested in environmental justice, community outreach and education, and sustainable development, especially in the realm of public transportation (yay trains!!!). Last summer, Vasu had the opportunity through the IBES Summer Internship program to work in the Director’s Office at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management on the agency’s environmental justice initiatives. She then spent this past summer conducting research on air quality in Providence with the Hastings Lab, and is on track to complete an honors thesis. Within IBES, Vasu has served as a peer advisor, a teaching assistant, a research assistant, and a DIAP Committee representative. Outside of IBES, she is heavily involved with advising, dance, art, and progressive politics. You may also catch her giving an occasional campus tour! Vasu is more than happy to talk about IBES and the opportunities it offers, environmental careers and pathways, and navigating other aspects of life at Brown.
