Jonathan Vivas
Biography
Jonathan is a quantitative social scientist. His work combines behavioral social science, sustainability, and resilience theory, with quantitative and computational methods to investigate human wellbeing–environment feedbacks in agricultural and food systems. At IBES, his research focuses on the nexus between mental health and the adoption of agricultural conservation practices, with the aim of producing insights to inform policy and practice addressing sustainability challenges and wellbeing outcomes in and beyond food systems. His research is defined by a commitment to interdisciplinary, driven by the conviction that collaborative, cross-disciplinary scholarship is a requirement for responding to real-world challenges. He received a PhD from Michigan State University in Sustainability and Environmental Science & Policy, and has field research experience in Nicaragua, Taiwan, Costa Rica, and the United States.
