Opportunities for Postdoctoral Researchers

IBES supports research by early-career scholars in the form of Voss Postdoctoral Fellowships, which are open to experts holding a PhD in any field of study relevant to environmental research.

Application Deadline :

The Institute at Brown for Environment and Society (IBES) seeks candidates for distinguished postdoctoral positions in any field of study relevant to environmental research.

We are searching for a research-minded Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Brown University and the Scale Aware Sea Ice Project's efforts to understand polar change.

The scientist will join a growing cohort of polar oceanographers and polar-focused scientists at the Institute at Brown for Environment and Society. They will focus on understanding ocean and wave-driven mixing under sea ice - specifically coupling and running an ocean general circulation model (e.g., MITgcm/ROMS/MOM) with new discrete and continuum sea ice models.

Application Deadline :

This opportunity is currently on hold, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

IBES competitively awards travel grants of up to $2,000 to IBES faculty fellows and to postdocs whose primary mentor is an IBES fellow. These travel grants are generally aimed at supporting travel to a conference where the applicant is presenting research or organizing a session, but other types of travel will be considered on a limited basis, as funding allows.
