
Nelsy Reyes
Biography
Nelsy’s love for higher education started in her local community college, where she earned her Associate's degree in the arts and developed an interest in advising and supporting students from nontraditional backgrounds. She then transferred to Eastern Connecticut State University where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, a minor in Communications, and a newfound love for community engagement.
After graduating, she became an Americorps VISTA with South Carolina Campus Compact where her primary focus was connecting students to volunteer opportunities in the community. In her second term, she served as an Americorps VISTA Leader with Rhode Island Campus Compact, which also involved working with higher education institutions committed to the promotion of community service, service-learning, and civic engagement. She then transitioned to working with an online community college, assisting union members and their families in completing their degrees virtually.
Nelsy's love for higher education and community engagement led her to her current position as Academic Coordinator for the Environmental Sciences & Studies Concentrations, where her primary focus is supporting student-focused events and helping to foster relationships within the Brown community and beyond.
