Solving the Climate Challenge: How Brown Works Across Disciplines to Create a Sustainable and Equitable Future

Brown’s culture of collaboration serves as a catalyst for enduring, actionable solutions to today’s most pressing climate, sustainability, and equity challenges – from rising sea levels to the health effects of air pollution. Engage directly with Brown’s top leaders in climate science, public health, international affairs, sustainability, and engineering. Gain firsthand insight into the University’s efforts to foster nimble innovation, cultivate the next generation of change-makers, and continually seek novel avenues of applied research.

This Commencement Forum will feature:

  • Kim Cobb, Director of the Institute at Brown for Environment & Society (IBES)
  • Jeff Colgan, Director of the Climate Solutions Lab at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs
  • Ashish Jha, Dean of the School of Public Health
  • Nitin Padture, Director of the Initiative for Sustainable Energy in the School of Engineering
  • Stephen Porder, Associate Provost for Sustainability and Acacia Professor of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology and Environment and Society
  • Moderated by Megan Hall, the host of Possibly, a podcast produced by IBES, the Public’s Radio, and Brown's Climate Solutions Initiative.
