Betsy Stubblefield Loucks

Director of the Student Transformative Engagement Pathways Program

Biography

Betsy Stubblefield Loucks serves as the Director of the Student Transformative Engagement Pathways (STEP) Program at IBES. The STEP Program provides all Brown students with the opportunities and networks needed to jumpstart their professional training in climate and sustainability—from their first semester through graduation and beyond.

Betsy’s career is defined by her ability to drive successful collaborations across the public, private, and non-profit sectors to promote community wellness and environmental sustainability. A Brown alumna, she joined IBES with deep experience in program design and strategic planning, most recently serving as a lead architect for cross-campus initiatives within Brown’s Division of Research. Her expertise is further rooted in over two decades of leadership, including appointments to state energy and health oversight commissions, non-profit leadership and strategy consulting.

Betsy holds a BA from Brown University, an ScM from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and an MBA from Concordia University (Montreal). As a leadership coach and lifelong environmental advocate, she is dedicated to equipping the next generation of change agents with the practical skills and resilience needed to address global challenges. Grounded in Providence, Betsy finds inspiration outdoors—trail-running, cycling, and ocean swimming—often while keeping up with her twin daughters.
