Biography
As someone who has deep interests in both physical sciences and humanities and has been in so many other spaces both inside and outside Brown where I felt like I had to choose between my interests, I am so grateful that ENVS has allowed me to explore those intersections and connections in a way that has made me a stronger thinker, writer, and practitioner. I hope to empower students who feel similarly to how I did to create academic pathways using the ENVS concentration that allow them to be creative, challenge themselves, and generate directions and possibilities for their academic and future careers that they didn't even realize were possible. I truly believe ENVS has something to offer everyone, no matter what their academic background or interests are, and provides space for us to grapple with some of the most consequential issues of our time and make a meaningful impact across a variety of scales.
I would also be eager to discuss how to choose research that fits your interests and different paths for engaging in research, such as research through a fellowship, research for credit, or working as a research assistant. As a double concentrator in environmental science (ScB) and history who didn't begin taking courses in either of those departments until my second year, I feel very comfortable discussing how to double-concentrate and create a course plan that feels feasible while also achieving academic goals.
