Hayley Schiebel, currently a Voss Postdoctoral Fellow, has accepted a new appointment at Suffolk University as Assistant Professor within the Center for Urban Ecology and Sustainability, effective July 1, 2017.
Schiebel completed her undergraduate degrees in theatre and biochemistry in North Carolina while investigating chlorofluorocarbon kinetics under Dr. Bert Holmes. She then studied marine biology and environmental science at Nova Southeastern University with Dr. Ed Keith. During this time, she was able to work with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to better understand delphinid whistle characteristics. Upon completion of her master's work, Hayley transitioned back into chemistry for her doctoral work with Dr. Bob Chen studying dissolved organic carbon cycling in New England salt marshes. Currently, Hayley is investigating nitrogen isotopes in rainwater in both the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean basins to better understand (1) nitrogen-based aerosol seasonality; and (2) recycled versus new sources of marine nitrogen deposition in these basins.
Congratulations, Hayley!
