Biography

Alexandra MacFarland is interested in ammonium isotopes in the North Pacific Ocean. More specifically, she's comparing aerosol and precipitation samples from China and Hawaii to investigate marine vs anthropogenic sources with a focus on seasonal trends. Determining the origins of nitrogen deposition to the open ocean is vital for understanding anthropogenic influences on biogeochemical cycles.
