Ana Gonzalez San Martín

Archaeology & the Ancient World

Biography

Ana's research focuses on landscapes of rural labour, seasonality and social complexity during Mediterranean prehistory, with a particular focus on the environmental interpolation between communities (human, animal and vegetal) at a moment in history (Late Bronze Age to Iron Age) when land-use intensification and increasing industrialization in the Mediterranean have been traditionally correlated with processes of "social complexity". She's interested in seeing how these changes in cultural and social strategies across the Mediterranean articulate notions of collaboration, migration, temporality and social memory and their material traces on the physical landscape.
