Biography
Andrea Mason studies the paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental history of tropical Africa during the Quaternary. Using organic geochemical proxies in lake and marine sediment cores, she reconstructs temperature and precipitation as well as fire history, flooding events, and vegetation changes. Her research is critical to understanding how hazards and ecology respond under varying climatic conditions in the tropics.
