Biography

Andrea Mason will be studying the paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental history of afroalpine ecosystems, specifically in the Rwenzori Mountains, a region known for its high biodiversity and endemism. She will be reconstructing both temperature and precipitation as well as fire history, flooding events, and vegetation changes. This work will give us an understanding of how high elevations respond to different climactic conditions and what ecological and climactic changes we can expect in a changing world.
