IBES Fellow Baylor Fox Kemper and Affiliate Mara Freilich, both faculty members in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences, are among the Brown researchers involved in the new SIMCoast initiative.

Three IBES professors and two affiliates faculty members offered commentary on Brown's recent decision to pause its carbon reduction efforts.

IBES Fellow Baylor Fox-Kemper discussed how climate change impacts the ocean and how Rhode Island communities can better prepare for conditions that could negatively impact water utilities. 

"Preparation [for the effects of climate change] involves science and realism about the scale of the effects, who will be most affected, and what can be done," IBES Fellow Baylor-Fox Kemper commented.
