Assistant Professor (Research) of Environment and Society

Biography

Bo is a fluvial geomorphologist focusing on sediment transport and morphologic changes of alluvial rivers. His Ph.D. work explored the effects of river engineering on sediment transport, bar formation, and riverbed deformation in the Lower Mississippi River. At Brown, Bo is studying river avulsion and fluvial geomorphology in northern high latitude environments using SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) data.

Bo earned his Ph.D. in geography at Louisiana State University (LSU). He also holds a master’s degree in hydrology from LSU. Before he came to America in 2012, he received a bachelor's degree and a master’s degree at China University of Geosciences.
