Biography

My research occur at the intersection of environmental and mental health, focusing on exposure assessment development and violent injury. Broadly, I am interested in the mechanisms by which environmental toxicant exposures impact mental health and novel means to examine these exposures. Recent topics include research on firearm-related lead exposures and trauma-related mental illness, as well as the use of novel, non-invasive X-Ray Fluorescence techniques to measure cumulative metal exposure in bone, blood, nail and hair. Our team is hoping to conceive of ways to leverage this technology to identify PFAS exposures in the environment.
