Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences

Biography

Kristin is interested in reconstructing past sea surface temperatures and patterns of biological productivity in the oceans using organic biomarkers found in marine sediment cores. Her current project focuses on changing climate conditions and their effects on bioproductivity in the eastern equatorial Pacific over orbital time scales. By investigating paleoclimate records preserved in the Pacific from ~3 million years ago, Kristin hopes to understand how modern ocean systems might react to global environmental change.
