Biography

After graduating from Brown in 1960, Paul served as legal counsel to Rhode Island Governor John H. Chafee, attended Harvard Law School, and joined his family-run construction and real estate business, Gilbane, Inc. Ranked by Forbes Magazine among the largest privately held companies in the United States, Gilbane currently boasts approximately 3,300 employees and annual revenues of more than $7.7 billion.

A prominent figure in the Providence community, Paul has served in a variety of roles throughout his life: on the Board of Trustees for the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce; on the board of the Narragansett Council; as chairman of the New England Council; as president of the Northeast Region Boy Scouts of America; as a governor of Lifespan, Inc; and on the board of directors of the Carlisle Companies and Fleet Financial. He is a trustee for the Trinity Repertory Company.
