Biography

Reihan Abar is a senior from Denver, Colorado concentrating in Environmental Science and International and Public Affairs. She is passionate about environmental and climate justice, domestic and international climate policy, energy systems, as well as economic and environmental development in the African continent. On campus, Reihan is a research assistant for the Climate and Development Lab, community outreach chair for First Gens @ Brown, DEI coordinator for Brown Motion Pictures, a writer for the Black Star Journal, general member of several environmental organizations, and is an undergraduate representative on the IBES Diversity and Inclusion Committee (DIAC). During her junior spring, Reihan studied abroad in Morocco, Nepal, and Ecuador in SITs Climate Change program. Off-campus, Reihan interned at the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard University, conducted ecological research in the Rocky Mountains, and is an inaugural Hazel M. Johnson Fellow for Black Girl Environmentalist. In her free time, she enjoys photography/videography, tennis, and political theory.
