Climate Policy in U.S. States

One of the greatest obstacles the world faces in the fight against climate change is inertia — the force that maintains the status quo and inhibits individuals and societies from making the most impactful changes that could mitigate the effects of climate change on a large scale.

The Climate Solutions Initiative, a collaboration between IBES, the Office of the Provost, and the Watson Institute, is dispelling this inertia on multiple scales. From guiding colleges and universities toward decarbonization, to investigating obstacles to climate reform in Providence, to identifying, understanding, and breaking down barriers to change in all six New England states, and beyond, the Climate Solutions Initiative aims to curb climate inaction locally and globally through scholarship, learning and research-informed infrastructure changes.
