Biography

Alana is a senior from Richland, Washington, and is a double concentrator in Environmental Science on the Sustainability in Development (SID) track and Computer Science. Her interests within the concentration range from environmental law/policy to climate technology, and she would love to discuss any topics in this range in addition to the links between the humanities and STEM fields. This past summer, Alana had the opportunity to work with the Center for Ethics and Public Service at the University of Miami School of Law as part of the IBES Summer Internship program. She has also worked for ISMSolutions, a Department of Energy consulting firm, and volunteered with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. At Brown, she conducts research for the Rhode Island ACLU through Brown Initiative for Policy and volunteers with the Brown Elementary After School Mentoring program. She is also involved with BOMBS, WISE, and UCS, and enjoys hiking, tennis, and playing the piano outside of school. Alana is happy to provide insight into navigating IBES and campus resources, double-concentrating, finding environmental internships and pathways, or other aspects of life at Brown!
