David Herrera

Political Science

David Herrera's research broadly focuses on the intersection of urban politics, race, social movements, and environmental policy. More specifically, David's current research examines how African American and Chicano/Latino communities with sustained histories of environmental injustice mobilize to address the negative effects of air pollution affecting their lives. Herrera studies the ways community organizing can be an important tool of empowerment for these frontline communities to influence policies on environmental regulation in cities.
