Biography

Nia Hodges is a junior originally from Bowie, MD now living in Philadelphia, PA double concentrating in Environmental Studies and Literary Arts. On campus, Nia is a co-leader of The Forager, Brown and RISD’S environmental literary magazine and co-leader of WORD! Performance Poetry. For the Fall 2024 semester, she co-created a Group Independent Study (GISP) that focuses on the intersection of film and poetry. In past years, she has interned at BronxCare Hospital as a part of Brown’s SPRINT signature program, and written poetry for a couple publications on campus. She would love to talk with you about her past/current endeavors, creating an independent study, literary activism, moving through ENVS as a Black Woman/POC, career opportunities/summer internships in general and for environmental writers, and book recs!
