IBES Appoints 35 New Faculty Affiliates

The Institute at Brown for Environment and Society is pleased to welcome affiliates representing over 20 different departments, schools, and centers across the University.
Three members of IBES faculty will join Director Kim Cobb and Director of Undergraduate Studies Dawn King to form an expanded IBES Leadership Team, as outlined in the Institute’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan.
At Brown's Opening Convocation on September 5, 2023, Cobb called on students to unite across disciplines and take action against climate change — emphasizing that with their unique blend of knowledge and a global network of climate advocates at their disposal, they can work together to secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

In the face of climate change, some of the most important work we can do revolves around teaching, learning from, and collaborating with others. Dr. Sekhon — a paleoclimatologist, Voss Postdoc Research Associate, and Presidential Postdoc Fellow in IBES and DEEPS — exemplifies this principle as she strives to make meaningful connections at Brown and abroad.
